  1. Considering that our human population now numbers well over 6 billion, it is very unlikely that any single event could arise that could kill us all. If anything too severe were to arise then natural selection would be reinvigorated into our survival to find those with the genes that can persevere through that event.  You can already see this in the African truckstop case studies where some prostitutes seem to be immune to HIV presumably because their white blood cells do not present themselves as the right target for the virus, much like cickle cell red blood cells do not present themselves as a good target for Malaria.  Even if UV was to increase to ridiculous levels from human caused atmospheric deterioration most people would probably still survive long enough to produce a couple children before their 30 year old eyeballs became full of cataracts and they entered into advanced stages of cancer.  A few generations of this and natural selection will again be chopping at the bit to find genes that would express a resistance to this environmental pressure.  If our climate ran out of control in either direction and the food supply took a dive then undoubtedly the world would probably have a massive war fighting over food resources until we killed of so many of our own that an equilibrium was once again established at an appropriate global carrying capacity.  To summarize, I think that humans have the ability to really mess up our shared planet over the next 100 years, but I think that it will be really hard for us to actually cause our own extinction... We're just to darn adaptible and our gene pool is just too massive at 6 billion+ individuals!

  2. I guess I should start evolving now.

  3. By luck...

But since our global economy is so much vulnerable to externatities (meaning natural disasters), it will be VERY unprobabled that we will survived without a hitch... Many things will changed, as well as our way of life!

  4. They've survived this long and it will go on surviving the next. Providing the air pollution and wars dont kill us .As long as there is a breath of life humans will continue.

  5. Same way it survived the last 100.

  6. It wont. We have.... how you say?? nuclear bombs!

  7. The same way we have for eons: overcome trials and tribulations one by one and evolve to conform to our surroundings.

  8. maybe they won't

    we think we are invincible

  9. Who ever is born 50 years from now has a good shot if the try hard?

  10. However it is managed one may suspect that it will be quite different from the way we do so today.  It may even be quite different from any strategy that man has ever used successfully to survive in the past.  It will likely be interesting and innovative or otherwise unsuccessful.

  11. They'll figure it out. Or may be they won't survive. Who knows..?

  12. Adapt to the changing environment, improve on our current methods of supporting our biological needs to increase our overall health and lifespans, and create new and innovative ways to satisfy our cultural and creative needs

But a good first step is to legalize marijuana :)

  13. we won't , according to psychics, we will be around for another 90 to 95 years...
