My first sushi I had was yellow tail and it was hard to get down and I wanna try a different kind. Any sushi suggestions for sushi beginers? I am looking for a kind for a beginner.

  1. OMG, sushi is the best! I think for beginners you won't be familiar with the taste. So I suggest you just go to a Sushi Bar (with the rotating conveyor belt) and TRY all different types of sushi. The brain and tongue works in a way where you'll grow to like unfamiliar food the more you test it out. Its like the first time you eat it you might not like it because you have never tasted it before. But once you do, you'll grow to like it.

    My Faves:

    Unagi (Eel)

Inari (tofu wrapped around rice; its sweet)

    Ahi (tuna)

    Salmon

Dragon Rolls (has ahi, salmon, avocado or other stuff)

    California Rolls

Try without wasabi first. Wasabi is like a mustard and can be kind of strong.

  2. Unagi.

    California Roll.

    Tamago.

  3. California Roll is a good one:  It is pretty mild.  It's made with imitation crab (which is cooked!), and it's pretty common so you can find it anywhere.

Are there any types of fish you like?  If you like tuna steaks, they are commonly cooked medium-rare so any raw tuna in sushi shouldn't scare you.  Philly (Philadelphia) Rolls are made with salmon and cream cheese, so it's just like a bagel with lox.

Vegetarian sushi is also pretty easy to eat for a beginner.  I love guacamole so I often get Avocado Rolls.  Or try the cucumber roll.  If the thought of raw fish still scares you look for Tempura rolls, which are made with battered and fried items.

Sushi is commonly served with soy sauce and wasabi, which can help mask the taste.  Wasabi is very hot, so be careful and only use a tiny bit!

  4. try California Rolls or a salmon maki

  5. Oh well my mom is a pro sushi chef ..and she told me that tons of people who started eating sushi started with something simple like california rolls, but to tell you the truth sushi is sushi it's still raw fish there's no beginner or advance cuz there's no rules to what u or anybody eats...plus there's no real way to make sushi...just as long as u have raw fish and seeweed or something like that..you can call it sushi..when i first started eating it..i love to put banans in mine..cuz i loved bananas and the banana was ripe so it was mushy and it tasted good with the rice..then next i had cucumber and avacado rolls and then and now i love salmon and crabmeat....and now I really love all sorts of sushi..so just try different stuff...i mean it really wouldn't kill  u (unless ur like allergic)..and plus u get the experience..you know how high class sushi is?

    well it's pretty high class

  6. Inari (fried tofu cake)

    Tamago (Egg)

    California Roll (avacodo, mayo, crab)

    Tempura Roll (fried shrimp)

    Vegtable Roll (various)

I'm not a sushi beginner, but I am a wuss...so you can trust me when I tell you that just about any of the selections that are cooked are good for the squeamish, as well as any of the vegtable, or pickle rolls offered.  Sea Eel is one of my daring favorites...though I try and avoid the River Eel because they're a little muddy-tasting for me.

Be sure and order some miso soup and vegtable tempura.  I also really like Udon dishes.  Not sushi...but it is some of the beginner style highlights of japanses cuisine.

  7. You could try the cucumber rolls or california rolls. Or stick to mongolian beef when you go! lol....

  8. salmon and tuna are pretty tame for a beginner. try a philadelphia roll or crunchy roll or something. then you can branch out to eel and octopus eyes and stuff like that later.

  9. rainbow rolls are good because they have a variety of fish in them

if you don't want raw fish then California rolls are always good

i don't know if u can find this kind, but its called a "rock-and-roll" roll and its very good =]

  10. Crunchy roll. I love that one! It has salmon in it but it is cooked.

  11. oh yes i absolutly love sushi try chicken tyriakey sushi i love it

  12. my first kind of sushi was my japanese friend's favorite...it had scrambled egg (cooked, of course), cucumber, and tiny little salad shrimp (also cooked) wrapped in the rice & nori.

you can also substitute canned tuna for the salad shrimp.

otherwise try the california roll...it's got imitation crabmeat (works best if you get the leg style), cucumber, and avocado (mashed)...then you make them inside-out rolls with poppyseeds on the rice.  it makes them pretty & they taste so good! :)

    **enjoy**

  13. i love... ebi-its basically just shrimp on top of rice

california roll-if u dont mind avocado in your food

spider roll is good-its like a deep fried softshelled crab rolled in rice and seaweed

  14. the basics you want to try are salmon or tuna, and if you dont like raw fish you can eat the California rolls
