Sushi Kits!!(where from on the web)?

I'm looking to buy a full starter sushi kit, but i don't know where to look on the web.

Can anyone help.

I don't think i could get it from a shop, but looking on the web for a decent sushi kit,is hard.

Can't wait to get one..

  2. Kits are expensive and the product turn-over is not good, so items are usually near or past expiration dates. If you are in the USA, you can find everything you need at Japan Super and have it shipped to you.

    The main supplies you need are Japanese rice,  a Shamoji (rice paddle), Sushi su (powedered vinegar - best for beginners). Nori (seaweed), Wasabi (green horseradish) and Shoyu (soy sauce).

    Note: Use a large plastic bowl for mixing the rice

    Optional items are:

    Mikisu (rolling mat)

    Gari (vinegared ginger)

    You will find most of these items listed under the Sushi category. Other items can be found under their respective category.

  6. What are you looking to make? Do you need to order on-line?

    Most supermarkets, even Asda, sell the Nori, wasabi, vinegar, rice and rolling mats.  Just add your fillings or toppings. We love omlette, canned tuna, cucumber or smoked salmon. Waitrose have it all on-line too.

    Plus you'll need a good sharp knife and board.

    Take a look at "Video Jug" for advice.

    Simple tips like wetting the tip of the knife can make the difference between neat sushi and the "Giants Causeway" affect on a plate.

    Also I now cheat on the nigiri and use a silicon mould I found in a cookshop. Dead easy now

    Also Ikea do a range of ceramic plates that are great to eat and serve on if you have one nearby.
