  1. look in the seafood department of your local grocery store.

  2. They are a specialty and you can't find them many places

  3. grocery store/ supermarket

in the cold section with the prepackaged hams etc

  4. It is probably imitation crab meat (made from different types of fish). Try grocery stores, especially Asian food stores.

  5. Depends on where you live. If in the states most of your larger stores(with delicatessens) will carry it. Or you can cook your own.

  6. In your grocery store.

Look for "Krab" or "Imitation Crab" in the refrigerated section.

You will only rarely find real crab in sushi in the US, so the imitation is probably what you are looking for.

  7. Hmm, well I was hoping since you said "sushi connoisseurs" it was going to be a question that involved an authentic ingredient. Now I'm disappointed. You can find that fake crab at any grocery store. It's usually made of pressed whitefish. Just look for something that says "krab" or "imitation crab" or something like that.

I've used real crab in maki before and it is much better. It's not that expensive compared to the "krab."
