Sushi? help me out!?!? please!?

hey everytime i have gone for sushi, i don't know what to get. i guess i need some help. What do ya'll pick when you get sushi? Give me some recommendations =)

Sushi is actually the rice part.  Sushi is Japanese for 'rice'.

California roll, spicy tuna, nemo roll, yellowfin, eel, rainbow roll...all great options.

California roll is made with cooked crab, so that will be easy to swallow.

All the others are raw, but with the spicy tuna, you won't be able to taste the rawness.  That's a great option for trying out a raw sushi for the  first time.

Only my opinion, but I think sushi is best raw.  Be adventurous!  Try it.  I think you'll love it.

If you're not carb counting, get nigiri sushi (fish on rice) with sake (salmon), hamachi (yellowtail tuna) and toro (fatty tuna).

If you are counting carbs, get the same three fish as sashimi.

The simplest items are the best because you'll be able to taste what you're ordering. All those fancy rolls that restaurants now offer have so many ingredients, you can't hardly taste anything.

Well, you've got to cover the basics -- california rolls, tuna and salmon rolls or maki for sure.

Start with something tasty, like a sunomono salad or a miso soup.

Other great rolls are unagi, dynamite, spider, etc.  House rolls are usually fun.  

The only one I would recommend you steer clear of is the squid.  It has the texture of rubber.

I'm a fan of tuna--I personally think that's what's best to start with if you haven't had a lot of sushi before.  I also like California rolls, sweet shrimp, and barbecued eel (sounds nasty, I know, but I liked it).

If you want to go for the tame variety, just order something like the California Rolls.  If you're feeling a little more adventurous, ask your server what types of platters they have that offer a little of everything.  I especially like those because you get one bite of all the different things they offer.  Its a great way to experiment and figure out what you really like and what you're not quite as fond of.  I haven't found anything I don't like.  But I have most certainly identified my favorites.  The only thing I do not like is the Wasabi.  Some places smear that stuff on every bite.  Check with your server.  I prefer the places that keep it on the side.  Best way to ruin my sushi experience is with Wasabi.  I don't taste anything but that nasty spice when its present.  Anyway...be courageous.  Just make sure you're going to reputable places.

i have had the eel.it was good..i dont like tuna raw..i do the California rolls..and normally they have the two separated on the menu as far as cooked and uncooked...there are so many that you can choose from on the cooked side..the asparagus sushi is really good anything with the sesame seeds on the outside is good..cucumber crab

Anything with shrimps or veggies, such avocadoes...unless youre cool with raw fish bits...shrimps are cool...

I love sushi!

Anything with Tuna or Salmon in it has alot of good flavor...both are very "fatty" fish and dont taste " fishy" at all.

some of the rolls are easily eaten but the "seaweed" interior or exterior can put people off. Its not actually seaweed but algea.

Salmon nigri -----good

Tuna "hamachi" --good

eel....warm slimy taste

egg...yuck

fish eggs( orange crusty) ...yuck

herring.....acquired taste

shrimp......easy to eat...unimpressive

rolls with crab, tuna, or salmon all good.
