Hi, just a few questions on the basics of sushi here-

When you order it in a restaurant, they usually bring 8 pieces, in the calorie count is all of that considered one serving, or just one piece of it (most of the diet plans say "sushi roll", not sure what they mean).

Does proper way of eating this mean you pop the whole piece in your mouth at once? I've had some that were bite size, and the last place we went they were really big, like an inch wide and tall, I had to either bite it in half or cut it.

Are there more than one variety of vegetarian rolls? What would those be, so far all I've seen is the California roll with avocado in it.

Thanks to all in advance.

There is a website with lots of different vegetarian sushi types.

There are SO many you can chose from. I am a vegetarian and have had so many different kinds it's unbelievable.

And, one serving is the whole roll. Which is between 6-8 pieces depending on how they cut it. You don't have to eat it all in one bite. Haha. I think most people do that because when you bite it, it does fall apart a lot faster. I find whenever I bite the bigger pieces, I get rice and other stuff all over me. So putting it all in at the same time is just easier. But you can definitely bite it. :)

  2. I've learned that sushi the size of your palm is a full serving.  This is in health class in college.  A sushi roll is about 6-8 pieces.  One roll is a serving.  There's a lot of vegetarian rolls.  California rolls are not vegetarian.  It consists of imitation crab meat, which is made out of fish.  If the piece is too big for you, take two bites.  There is no rule that you need to eat each piece all at once.
