Sushi recomendations?

Question

What's a roll, handroll, etc that's just gotta be tried? Everyone's got favorites.. Mine, crunchy tempora or spicy tuna deep fried & my boyfriends is the salmon mango roll.. Any suggestions?

My favorite is SnowCrab Roll and Califorina Roll. YummY! & the fresh ginger...

tuna mayonnaise (with a sprinkle of black pepper) hand roll (if you're talking non-traditional Japanese handroll).

as for an authentic choice, ikura (salmon roe) handroll hands down.

Spicy Hamachi (yellowtail) Handroll is one of my favorites...even if it's not on the menu, they will usually make it for your at request.

I usually ask to have Masago added in my handrolls...and also make sure it has cucumber as well...but it's all dependent on your personal preference.

Albacore is another one of my faves...you could order the sashimi or Nigiri if you like but make sure they top it with Ponzu sauce. (places that are not authentic, or if they don't know much about making Sushi, will usually not put Ponzu sauce on it)

If you only like rolls then choose one with Albacore on top.

There's always the classic "Rainbow Roll"  which is nice since it's an assortment of different types of fish...

Sounds like you really like Fried rolls though so as far as that, try a "Spider Roll" since it has tempura soft shell crab.

oh btw, Ikura is the one sushi I would watch out for.

It's not that I don't like it or don't recommend it...it's just hard to find places that have Good Ikura. If they don't have good Ikura then it's going to tasty VERY salty!  So I would try something other than that to be safe. =)

definitely octopus & tuna sashimi ... and fried sweet shrimp handrolls ... I also love the marinated seaweed salad
