Sushmitha Illangakoon crushes Valeriya Mushtakova at Asia Youth Under 19 Mixed Team Championships
Sri Lanka’s talented player Sushmitha Illangakoon showed her tremendous class when she crushed Valeriya Mushtakova of Uzbekistan in Women’s Singles encounter at the Badminton Asia Youth Under 19 Mixed Team Championships 2012 on Sunday, July 1, in Korea.
The Sri Lankan was miles ahead of Valeriya in all aspects of the game as she did not face even a slight resistance from her Uzbek rival and won the match in a phenomenal fashion.
Sushmitha was incredible in her shot placement as she did not committed mistakes in earning points from all areas of the court and ousted her rival in straight games while showing a fabulous performance for just 16 minutes.
On the other hand, Valeriya was no match to her Sri Lankan opponent as she could not put up strong show in front of the local crowd and easily lost the battle without taking any game.
The in-form Sri Lankan lady started her campaign in a confident and determined manner and she did not face any problem at all in getting a strong position until the end of opening half of first set.
After the one-minute interval, the Uzbek lady collected her nerves to play attacking badminton but failed to create gaps in her rival’s court and also conceded many points by hitting the bird out of court or into the net.
In the meanwhile, Sushmitha let her impressive run going without slowing down her pace at any stage and easily got advantage in the match by taking the set with a staggering margin of 21-7.
In the following game, Sushmitha again was on driving seat as she did not let her rival to play dominating badminton. She was in wonderful flow as her smashes were perfect and net play was incredible which put her miles ahead of her rival until the one-minute
interval.
After the break, Sushmitha continued entertaining the local fans with her aggressive and positive craft and eventually remained successful in grabbing the second set of this contest with a huge 21-9 difference on the score board.
The talented Sushmitha won this lopsided Women’s Singles battle in just 16 minutes with a striking margin of 21-7 and 21-9.
