Suspect Attempted Break-In to Apartment ?

I am not sure about the scenario here and what to do about it. I woke up this morning and found my door key k**b to be open, as if someone tried to open the main door in the night, but couldnt get in, due to door-jam chain. But i guess he must have tried some force to push through, as the door jam chain had one end almost loosened out.

But since no-one came inside, and I am sure I locked the door k**b in night and found the key k**b open in morning, do I report this kind of thing to police ? or shall I report it to my landlord/apartment management and have lock replaced ??

Report it to the landlord & the police.

Contact the police and then  have your landlord look at the damage.
