Question:

Suspected Vitalligo?

My mother has vitalligo and has for the past 5 years or so. Since then my mum has made me check over my skin to see if i get it. Over the past week i've noticed about 5 small patches about 0.5cm in diametre on my chest. I occasionally use sun cream but not much. I know this is one of the suspected reasons of developing vitalligo however emotional and physical stress can be one. I've been under quite alot of emotional stress and recently had my SATS and pushed myself very hard. My sister is also going through divorce and that has also stressed me out. I'm not sure what can be done, as to my knowledge there is no remedy or cure. However, i googled a little and found a natural remedy that is supposed to re-pigmentate your skin. http://www.pigmentum-inc.com/ I was wondering if anyone knew of anything other than this that can help to relieve the growth of vitalligo apart from cosmetics as i'm only 14 and don't really want to cover myself in special make up every day.

Thanks.

  1. there is really no cure for vitiligo, you can take a topical steroid to slow it down it is called Cutivate, through prescription only. It is scary living with it but you get used to living with it. I have had it for 7 years since my freshman year of high school, I was afraid of what would happen to me. I over came that issue and lived a perfectly normal life. the Cutivate that I have been taking has slowed the progression of Vitiligo. One piece of advise, stay out of the sun. Everytime you get sunburned you will get more patches of light skin.
