Question:

Suspension Fork Maintenance?

Suspension fork manufacturers state that their forks need servicing on a regular basis. Does anyone have experience of how much this costs in the UK for coil sprung and air sprung forks?

  1. Basic servicing that you can do yourself will just be cleaning and lubrication, which is fairly easy with a few tools and some workspace. I've attached a handy vid below - this is for a Boxxer but they're all much the same. Don't go digging about in the actual upper fork legs - these do not need 'regular maintenance' unless there is something wrong with them.

Bike shops charge about £40 for a basic fork service - new oil, checking the air pressure but not much more.

My advice would be to service the forks yourself as per the vid every 20 hours or so of actual riding and just take them to the shop if there's a problem.

    Good luck!

  2. you can do it yourself. Or send it off to the manufacturere but it all depends on the make. In the end it could end up costing more than its worth
