Question:

Suspension goes down at high speed?

I was on my 600 riding with the fellas. We were doing roll-ons (straight empty patches of country highway that were miles long). had to throw that in for all the incoming squid comments about not being on the track and only going fast in a straight line.

Anyway, I noticed that at about 125MPH the rear just drops. It's like the suspension collapses or something. I can feel the seat go down about at least an inch and a half. I rolled from 4th, same thing, from 5th, same thing, just going from 80 to 130 in 6th, same thing. It's not like there's a sudden boost of power or speed. The acceleration is smooth and gradual. Has anybody experienced this or have an explaination?

  1. Are you sure you're not sliding back? I guess the front could be lifting. Are you leaning down and forward as you should? That is a squid-like thing to be doing you know.

  2. Had that problem on my old F4i. Without spending a grip of money on suspension, I tried adjusting the rear shock. It worked like a champ. Try stiffing up the setting a little bit. If it feels like it's bottoming out after that, it may be worn out. (Happens)

In that case, ebay, bike shop, rebuild, whatever may fit your budget would help. But if it's a relatively new 600 (that isn't on it's back wheel all the time) a simply adjustment might do the trick and save you some money.
