Ok so i turned 18 in march and after driving moms old civic for 2 years and saving, i bought a bmw. Huge mistake, i knew i loved american muscle, but i didn't think i loved it enough to sell my bmw. So i saw this 1980 camaro for sale in my town for $1100 so i went out on a limb and bought it and later sold my bmw. I sold my bmw for $10,500 and spent 1,100 of that on the camaro.then spent 2,950 on the ls1/t56, i got a good deal. So that leaves me 6,450. it's going to cost me around 2,000 for wheels and tires. so i have 4,450 to play around with. I was wondering what suspension setup to install. I want a smooth ride and the car to handle good, because i live in a rural area, lots of curvy roads. What do you suggest. also the engine/trans have not yet been installed.

  1. First get all new bushings use poli bushings for everything, replace ball joints and buy new springs from moog or someone like that for the same car but with the biggest engine and air conditioning, cut those down a little at a time till its at the right ride height, replace your sway bar with a bigger one and use poli bushings, buy some good shocks,

buy 50 inch tires all around for good handling and easy to rotate later, with a low profile, they make all sorts of kits for the rear end find one or just use stock with all new poli bushings and new shocks and maybe springs or leafs, that's a cheap way and you will notice so much difference, then you'll have more bucks for your new engine and trans.

  2. Detroit Speed and Engineering has the parts to make that Camaro hug those corners. They did Dale JRs Camaros and will be doing mine when it comes a time. Check out Lateral-g.net to see the build ups of a bunch of camaros and more. Check out the artwork page to see some sick renditions of cool cars.

  3. Two companies that come to mind for Camaro suspension parts are Hotchkiss and Eibach. They both make very high quality parts for F-body cars. Make sure to replace all your suspension and sub-frame bushings with polyurethane parts and don't forget a set of sub-frame connectors to tie it all together. Competition Engineering makes them in both weld on and bolt on styles.

Good luck, and, have fun with it. It sounds like you have a pretty good plan for your F-body.

  4. id say go with edelbrock shocks because they always make good stuff and, but if that doesnt sound like you a guy that likes to get what he pays for id say go with a KYB setup and youll deffently be happy not sure if they make a setup for that model but if so id say its prolly the best.
