Sussex 2nd XI overcame the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) Young Cricketers by one wicket and four balls remaining in a closely fought match of the Second Eleven Trophy at the County Ground, Hove in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 on Monday, August 1, 2011.
The visitors batted first and managed 218 runs for the loss of three wickets in their allotted 40 overs. The team’s first-drop player http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Eddie-C-Ballard-c55028 was the top scorer of the innings with an unbeaten 92 runs.

The stylish opener made the difference in the match, scoring a spectacular century. He ended up with 133 runs, top scoring the game.
Earlier, the MCC Young Cricketer’ skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Paul-Bernard-Muchall-c81025 decided to bat first after winning the toss. The conditions were perfect for cricket, as the conditions were dry and the sun was out.
The pitch was very good for the batsmen and a high scoring game was expected. However, the visitors’ skipper expected some concerns for the team batting second, as the wicket was dry and expected to become slower with the passage of time.

Terry looked solid at the crease, but did not manage to bat long. He was dismissed after collecting 21 runs off 36 balls.
The next wicket to fall in the innings was Tom Lewis, who struggled in his short stay at the crease. He was finding it hard to time the ball and was sent back to the pavilion after managing just 6 runs off 19 deliveries.
With three wickets own for 66 runs on the board, the visitors were in a spot of bother. However, the innings was held together by Ballard and Muchall. They played solid cricket and guided the team into a very strong position.
The pair put together and unbeaten partnership of 152 runs for the fourth wicket, guiding the total to 218. They collected 92 and 61 runs in their respective outings.
Sussex 2nd XI’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Steven-Chadwick-c76217 was the pick of the bowlers with one wicket for 24 runs in his six-over spell in the match.
