Sussex Cup Final Night Preview
There are eight live races from Hove tonight which are being shown on Sky Sports 2, including the Sussex Cup final. Here at bettor.com we have taken a look at each race and have tried to continue our scintillating tipping form.
7.40 – Coral.co.uk Trophy
You would be hard pushed to find a more competitive race to start an evening’s racing and the tentative verdict goes to Grand National runner-up NEBUCHADNEZZAR. His nemesis from Wimbledon, Plane Daddy, also lines up here but the selection only went down by a nostril that evening and his latest run suggests, despite not showing his usual jumping brilliance, that he is improving from the traps. Sizzlers Spirit is four-from-four over course and distance and has to be respected also.
8.00 – Watch Coral Tv Only At Coral Trophy
He Went Whoosh rightfully leads the market following his second to England Expects in the Grand Prix final, but he has only won one of his last nine starts which means the odds-on quotes surrounding his chances should be ignored. One that may go well at a price is USEFUL ASSET, who is a course and distance winner, plus is guaranteed to be doing his best work at the finish. At double figure prices he is guaranteed to give you a solid run for your money.
8.15 – Coral Puppy Trophy
Another short-price favourite to be taken on here, Kildallon Bound is looking for the five-timer but comes up against some inconsistent sorts that could return to form at anytime. The chief suspect for inconsistency is BETTOR DOT COM, who broke onto the scene last month with a couple of impressive performances but has forgotten how to trap on his last two occasions. If he can get to the first bend in contention then he may give the favourite something to think about.
8.35 Coral Sprint - Final
Seamus Cahill has a fantastic chance to land the spoils here with JIMMY LOLLIE (nap) in the sprint final. The selection is in top form, and has the next two in the market, Officer Donagh and King Lee, well held on recent form, he should break out and make all in impressive style.
8.50 Coralcasino.com Trophy
This looks to be a battle between two very classy staying types, Midway Skipper and TAYLORS RIVIERA. Ted Soppitt’s star hound has a good opportunity here to register the 13th win of his career and continue his unbeaten record at Hove. His rival however, comes here on the back of two wins at the top level and will be there or thereabouts come the finish; expect the front two to pull clear of the chasing pack.
9.10 – Coral Ladies Trophy
PINE ISLAND came through early crowding really impressively to win his heat and he makes most appeal at the current prices available. Defending champion Swift Ribena loves the track and should also go close, as should Ardberg Kate.
9.25 – Sue Ryder Care Trophy
SEIZE THE MOMENT can do just that in the penultimate live race, he comes here in great form and is no stranger to the surroundings at Hove. Derek Knight’s charge was slow away last time tried at this trip, but ran on eye-catchingly at the finish; expect him to be coming off the pace to lead down the home turn.
9.45 Coral Sussex Cup Final
All the talk surrounding this year’s Hove showpiece has centred on the promise of Carly Philpott’s Ballymac William, who has remained unbeaten throughout the competition. But he has failed to live up to the hype that surrounded him earlier this year and looks as though he may come unstuck this evening. As with many greyhound finals, the race to the first bend is going to prove crucial and it seems as the draw as worked out perfectly for HEAD ITON ELLIS (nb). The selection bolted out of the traps in the semi-finals and a repeat of that would see him grab the advantage at the first corner. He runs all the way to the line and has big race experience, including this year’s Derby, where he was an unlucky semi-final loser; tonight he can grab the headlines.
