Glamorgan would have been pleased with the total they achieved at the end of their innings, as they were in a spot of bother at one stage of the game. However, it was just a half job done for the, as restricting the opposition’s batsmen below 132 was not
easy.
The hosts had a few nervous moments in the game, but managed to win the match in the end, courtesy a solid batting performance from Zimbabwe’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Murray-Goodwin-c2040. The veteran batsman remained unbeaten on 41, ensuring a victory for his team.
The pitch was not the easiest for the batsmen, as the ball was not coming onto the bat at an even pace and height. This made life difficult for the Sussex players, but they overcame the challenge in the end.
Glamorgan were looking for early wickets and they got one at the start of the home team’s innings, as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ben-Brown-c1131 was dismissed in the very first over. He failed to open his account, putting his side under immense pressure.
New Zealand’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-James-Prior-c75192, who batted well for his 25 runs from 18 deliveries.
Sussex’s captain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MH-Yardy-c1946, didn’t have an ideal day and was dismissed for a duck. This brought a lot of pressure on the home team, as they lost four wickets for just 32 runs on the board.
However, Goodwin and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Chris-Nash-c1247 collected 58 runs for the fifth wicket partnership, giving some hope to their fans. The latter got out after playing a steady innings of 30 runs from 32 deliveries with the help of a couple of boundaries.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Joe-Gatting-c1710 also played well, giving terrific support to the Zimbabwean. The pair put together 40 runs for the sixth wicket stand, ensuring a win for their team.
There was a lithe drama towards the end of the innings, as Gatting got out after collecting 20 runs off 18 balls. Goodwin kept his cool though and won the match for Sussex in the end with an unbeaten 41 from 34 deliveries.
Alex http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Jones-c69217 did a wonderful job for Glamorgan, picking up three wickets for 18 runs in their three-over spell.
