Sussex's cricket manager http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mark-Andrew-Robinson-c74518 was excited to have Styris in the side for the T20 campaign this summer. Robinson hopes that the inclusion of the New Zealander in the squad would not only provide them an extra batting option
but also help the side with the ball in the middle overs.
"Scott has been a real thorn in our side in the last couple of years for Essex and we are really pleased he has decided to join us,” Sussex's cricket manager Mark http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Robinson-c86348 said on Wednesday. “We have lacked someone who is able to
come in during the middle overs…His experience and his all-round capabilities will mean he will be a real addition to the t20 squad," he added further.
The 36-year-old New Zealand all-rounder, who retired from international cricket soon after the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Essex-c783 in the FLT20 tournament.
Speaking to media reporters after signing the deal with the Sharks, the Australian-born Kiwi cricketer said that he loves playing in the United Kingdom and hopes to make valuable contributions with the bat and ball.
"I love playing in the UK, and I feel privileged to have played for a couple of great clubs,” said the former Essex player. "Sussex has been a powerhouse in one-day cricket in recent years and I look forward to contributing to the
team," he added further.
Styris, a right-handed middle order batsman and a handy right-arm medium pacer, played 188 One Day Internationals, 29 Tests and 31 T20 Internationals for New Zealand before bidding farewell to international cricket in June.
He is one of those players whose careers have been prolonged by the shortest format of the cricket, which was initially regarded as a young man’s game.
The all-rounder has also played for the Deccan Chargers and the Chennai Super Kings in the lucrative Indian Premier League (IPL).
To date, he has played 130 Twenty20 matches claiming 91 wickets and compiling 2693 runs, including one century and fifty half centuries.
