Sussex sign two-year deal with Chris Jordan – Cricket News Update
Sussex County Cricket Club has completed the signing of former http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Surrey-c851 all-rounder, Chris Jordan on a two-year contract. This was confirmed by the club in an official release on Thursday, December 6, 2012.
The 24-year-old was released by the London county at the end of last season, after losing his place in the first team, forcing him to end his five-year association with the Oval. The Barbados-born all-rounder had been at the Oval since the age of 17.
Jordan, who is eligible to represent both England and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Canterbury-c775. The last five-years saw him playing 72 matches for the London county across all three formats of the game, picking up 112 wickets.
Although his first-class career averages of 38.47 with the ball and 21.83 with the bat are not imposing, the Barbadian all-rounder was once considered among Surrey's most promising talents. His arrival at the Probiz County Ground, Hove,  will bolster Sussex’s pace attack, which relied heavily on http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Steve-Magoffin-c2578 in 2012.
Describing Jordan as a player who has “enormous potential”, Sussex's cricket manager Mark Robinson hoped to help him become a match winning player for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013.
"Chris has got enormous potential. He can bowl genuinely quick and has the ability to be able to bat at No. 6 or No. 7, and is a natural athlete in the field," said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mark-Andrew-Robinson-c74518 while speaking to media reporters after signing the deal.
"As yet, he hasn't been able to find the consistency needed to fulfil his potential. He is still young and we hope we can help Chris fulfil this rich promise and become not only a match-winner at Sussex but also for England," added the club’s cricket manager.
Jordan, 24, also expressed delight over the two-year deal at the Probiz County Ground, and hoped to play a key role in his new county’s success next season.
"I’m delighted to be joining such a fantastic club," said the all-rounder. "I hope to play a key role in helping Sussex challenge for honours in all three formats in 2013," he added further.
