Sussex v Durham - County Championship Division One - Day 2 – Live Score and Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sussex-c852 100/3 (41.0 ov) - Sussex trail by 131 runs with 7 wickets remaining in the 1st innings
At stumps on the second day of the ongoing four-day match between Sussex and Durham, in the ongoing County Championship Division One tournament, Sussex now trail by 131 runs with seven wickets remaining in their first innings, at Arundel Castle Cricket Club Ground.
Durham resuming their first innings on July 19, from an overnight tally of 92 runs for the loss of four wickets, with DM Benkenstein and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/PD-Collingwood-c2173 coming out to bat, bared the hallmarks of a great day of cricket.
However, skipper Collingwood failed to prosper, as he became the first wicket of the day by falling on an innings of nine runs, leaving his side standing on a total of 97.
It was then time for wicketkeeper/batsman, P Mustard, to come in the middle and he showed some good touch with the bat as he scored freely, making an important contribution of smashing a resilient knock alongside Benkenstein, as the pair took the score to 157, before Mustard hit the showers after squashing an innings of 27 runs.
Then after conceding 170 runs, the fielding side struck gold by nabbing the wicket of Benkenstein, who walked off the field after hitting a fine knock of 43 runs.
While the side then seemed almost heading towards a meltdown, it was the brave half century by SG Borthwick that helped his team put a respectable total on the board.
With Durham’s first innings coming to an end, it was SJ Magoffin, who was the best bowler from Sussex with three wickets to his name that left many impressed.
Sussex, had a troublesome start to their innings as they lost their first wicket with only four runs on the board, with opener CD Nash getting trapped in front of stumps with only three runs to his name.
However, LWP Wells was the man of the hour, as he stood defiant and knocked an innings of 41 runs before losing his wicket to CD Thorp, as he played an important role in helping his side amass 100 runs at stumps for the loss of three wickets.
MW Goodwin and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MH-Yardy-c1946 would now be resuming the third day of play from scores of 14 and 29.
