Sussex v http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 – Tour Match – Windies’ frustrated after rain interventions
Only 34 overs were completed during West Indies’ first tour match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013. The match, played at the County Ground, Hove, saw the Windies posting 90 for 3, before umpires called the game off.
The tourists resumed the final day on 46 for 2, with Keiron Powell and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DM-Bravo-c1386 occupying the crease from their overnight scores of 19 and 1 respectively. The wet conditions made life hard for batters, but more frustrating from them seemed the time they spend off it – in the dressing room.
The first three sessions were all washed out, while the subsequent three allowed only 18 overs. By then, Sussex had managed to take out opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kirk-Anton-Edwards-c71510.
The final morning again offered little respite with game being called off shorlty after the first session. Powell looked confident in the early parts of his innings but uncertainty of whether to play or leave eventually resulted in him being caught by wicket-keeper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Naved-Arif-c78891 – his time spent at the crease could still prove vital.
It then brought http://www.senore.com/Cricket/S-Chanderpaul-c2390 to the crease, and the veteran posted an unbeaten nine – a moment of pause came after he was struck on his hand and got treatment, with the management revealing that the injury is nothing serious.
Bravo was also struck on his back, following a well directed bouncer from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Amjad-Khan-c44095. The left-hander continued on and struck three boundaries to remain not out on 18. Following the conclusion, Bravo admitted his frustration over a lack of time on the pitch.
"It's a little bit frustrating," he said. "The guys really wanted to get out there and get as much match practice as possible, with a Test match starting in a few days. But we can't do anything about it."
The stylish left-hander is also looking forward to play at Lords, the venue of the first Test, starting from May 17th.
"It's going to be a great feeling to go out there and play a Test match at Lord's," he said."It's the home of cricket, so playing there is something special.
