http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, on Thursday, June 16, 2011.
The visitors scored 165 runs in their innings, courtesy a solid performance from Zimbabwe’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Murray-Goodwin-c2040. The veteran top scored the match with 48 runs. Middlesex batsmen were below par in reply and were bowled out for 116 in 18.5 overs.
The conditions were good for both the batsmen and the bowlers, as the pitch had something for everyone in it.
However, the home team’s skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Neil-Dexter-c2091, expected the batsmen to struggle more in the first half of the match due to which, he opted to field after winning the toss. His decision wasn’t backed by his bowlers though, as they conceded more than 150 runs.
The start for Sussex was disappointing, as they lost their opening batsman, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Joe-Gatting-c1710, who also went
for a duck, leaving the team with two wickets down for the same number of runs on the board.
However, England’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Wright-c98127 got out after adding 34 runs to the total, faced just 18 balls.
Vincent was the next man to follow after scoring 44 runs from 32 deliveries, striking four fours and two sixes. Goodwin walked out in the middle and batted brilliantly for his team. He managed 48 runs from just 33 balls with the help of four fours and one
massive six.
Pakistan’s, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rana-Naved-ul-Hasan-c83909, also did a terrific job for his team, scoring a quick-fire 24 off 14 balls in the death overs. His effort guided the team to 165 in the end, which proved to be too good for the opposition.
Star England bowler, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harold-William-Stephenson-c61707 Finn, was in phenomenal touch, taking a couple of wickets for just 19 runs in four overs.
Middlesex batsmen were not able to make an impression once they came out to bat. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Scott-Alexander-Newman-c89001 was the only batsman in the hosts’ innings, who batted with responsibility. He top scored the innings with 44 runs, but didn’t get any support from the other end
and the entire team was dismissed for 116.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Christopher-John-Liddle-c50869 did most of the damage, taking four wickets in the match for the visitors.
