Sussex’s Michael Yardy steps down as captain – Cricket News Round-Up – Part 4 – August 1, 2012
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/MH-Yardy-c1946 has stepped down from his post as captain of the County’s 4-day and 40-over format teams, claiming he intends to focus on his game. He has, however, announced the intent to captain the side for Friends Life t20 Finals
Day at the end of August.
“I have decided to step down as captain in order to concentrate on my own game,” said Yardy. “There are many things I still wish to achieve as a player … I look forward to leading the team at t20 Finals Day.”
Yardy took over for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ed-Joyce-c1417 will be taking over in his stead, with his first assignment due to be Sussex’s
Championship match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Worcestershire-c866 at Hove, from August 1 to 4.
Sri Lanka’s http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556 will once again be vying for the popularity vote, after having been nominated a second time for the LG People's Choice Award, which sees fans voting for their favourite sportsman out of a
list of nominees compiled by an elite panel of experts.

“Mr Lorgat has a wealth of knowledge and experience, and we are delighted that he has agreed to work with us to improve the governance and administration of our cricket,” said Upali Dharmadasa (SLC president).
Lorgat (who has served at various posts in Cricket http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757, in addition to having worked on the organising and finance committees for the 2003 ICC World Cup) is expected to work with the SLC till October 31, 2012. Major areas which will be dealt with
include finances (with the board having racked up debts of close to $70 million while constructing and renovating venues for the 2011 World Cup), and the strengthening of the domestic cricket structure, in order to improve the performance of the national team.
