Minnesota Wild’s Ryan Suter apologises and says goodbye to Nashville Predator fans and team–NHL Update
New alternative captain of Minnesota Wild and defenseman, Ryan Suter, has apologised to all the fans and the Nashville Predators team for the hurt he has caused to them. The former Nashville Predators player joined Minnesota Wild on the 4th of
this month after a signing a contract worth $98 million for 13 years.
According to Suter, he has done this deal just to stay close to his family. Ryan Suter is married to Becky Suter who resides in Bloomington, Minnesota whereas the defenseman is from Madison, Wisconsin. So playing for the Wild, based in St. Paul, Minnesota,
would mean that he would be much more close to his family.
The 27 year-old said, “It’s something that happened. And the fact that I do get to be close to home with my wife and my kid, for me to be close to home, it all worked out. It was no agenda, and that’s how it played out.”
General Manager of Nashville Predators, David Poile, was very frustrated when the announcement of Ryan Suter joining the Minnesota Wilds was made public.
According to GM Poile, he was very “disappointed” and “surprised” at Ryan Suter’s decision to join Minnesota Wild and leave the team he had played for the last seven years. Nashville Predators was the team where he was brought up when he started playing
in the National Hockey League (NHL) back in 2005. David Poile said “It does not go down easy” and why should it go down easy?
But Suter on the other hand, says he did not hide anything from anyone and had made things clear. He said, “I have never tried to hide anything from anybody. I wanted it to work in Nashville, but the decision I made was to move on, and I’m sorry for the
hurt that it has brought to David Poile and to the Predators.”
In seven years, Suter played for the Nashville Predators in a total of 542 games overall, scoring 38 goals and picking up 200 assists, which made his total tally of points to 238. He had also won a silver medal in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games after finishing
as a runner-up with the United States National Hockey team.
