Suzann Pettersen can steal the show in Taiwan
Norwegian Suzann Pettersen, who stole the show at the LPGA Hana Bank Championship 2012 last week at Incheon, South Korea, is going to have yet another opportunity to prove her worth as she
gears up for the upcoming Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship 2012.
Pettersen had been under tight scrutiny for months before finally ending her victory drought at the LPGA Hana Bank Championship last Sunday, but the battle at Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship
2012 set to start from October 25 in Taiwan can bring another big surprise for her.
Although the field at the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) tournament is pretty strong this year, the Norwegian star appears to have all the tools she needs to take on rivals with,
and this time, she is expected to exhibit a more refined game.
Observers said that the victory at Incheon was more than just a surprise finish, as the star golfer has tried to give a glimmer of hope to other European and American rivals who have become
too complacent in the recent months, letting Asians walk all over them in most of the tournaments during the last two LPGA seasons.
Still, the battle in Taiwan can rattle Pettersen as the lineup is far stronger than the last edition. Although the number of players in the roster has been reduced to just 78, the presence
of defending champion Yani Tseng is enough to keep the tournament in the spotlight.
Key contenders set to start their first round this Thursday include Paula Creamer, Yani Tseng, Michelle Wie, Vicky Hurst, Cristie Kerr, Katherine Hull, Azahara Munoz, Pernilla Lindberg, Beatriz
Recari, Catriona Matthew, Danielle Kang, Jennifer Song, Sophie Gustafson, Anna Nordqvist, Karine Icher, Meena Lee, Inbee Park, Na Yeon Choi, So Yeon Ryu, Ai Miyazato, Se Ri Pak and Chella Choi of South Korea.
Current world number one Tseng, who is being regarded as the strongest contender for the tournament, has expressed her hope to win on her home soil.
Speaking during her pre-tournament interview on Tuesday, Tseng said that she is happy to be in Taiwan after a long and hectic tour, but her chances to win here are even brighter than the last
year.
She further said that she is satisfied with her overall performance, despite her not being able to win an event in the recent past.
