Suzann Pettersen determined to boost ranking in Canada
Norwegian Suzann Pettersen, who is struggling to get back on track after slipping to the 5th position in the Women’s World Golf Rankings, has vowed to atone for her lapses at the Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012.
The Manulife LPGA Classic 2012 is scheduled to start from June 21-24, at Waterloo, Canada, with several battle-hardened contenders in the roster.
According to the details, the published field of the prestigious tournament will feature most of the top-ranked LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) stars.
Some of the key players include the current world number two Stacy Lewis, American Paula Creamer, Sandra Gal, Ai Miyazato, Morgan Pressel, Beth Bader, Lexi Thompson, Karrie Webb of Australia and Amy Yang.
Pettersen, who had ranked third for months, saw a dramatic dip in her ranking after displaying a worse-than-expected performance in recent events.
The Norwegian star is trying to dispel concerns over her slumping performance, and has vowed to do her best in Canada this week.
Speaking to the media about her plans for the impending battle at Waterloo, the golfing sensation said that she is trying to improve her game and will set foot on the course with new vigour.
Pettersen pointed out that she is playing in Canada for the first time ever, which is a huge challenge for her.
The Manulife Financial LPGA Classic 2012 is featuring a number of competent Canadian players, which, according to analysts, is good for professional golf in the country.
Pettersen said that she expects to get plenty of support from Canadian spectators — something she desperately needs to tamp down concerns over her grim form.
“It's great to be here in Waterloo for the first time, my first time. Got in last night, excited to be back in Canada. We always have fantastic support from the fans here, all over Canada, doesn't really matter where we go,” the Norwegian prodigy said.
“It's probably one of the best supported events we have throughout the year and I'm excited to be here. It's great to have a new tournament, Manulife, here in Ontario. I'm very happy to be here and excited to see the course later on today”.
Commentators said that participation of players like Stacy Lewis is making the event even tougher, and it remains to be seen how the LPGA giant is going to regain her lost glory.
