Suzann Pettersen eager to get back to winning ways
Norwegian Suzann Pettersen can be seen struggling to regain her lost position on the LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) Tour these days, but the star golfer is keen to get back to
winning ways in the current season.
With the 2012 season heading into a more crucial phase, players are trying to improve their positions in the Women’s World Golf Rankings by recording victories and top-ten finishes.
Pettersen, thanks to her solid track record, still stands firm inside the top 10 in the Women’s World Golf Rankings, but it is time for her to toughen up a bit as younger players are fast
taking over positions in the top 50.
The Norwegian star has not won an LPGA event since her stirring performance at the Safeway Classic in August 2011, but winning five tournaments, including a major, in the 2007 season, has
certainly earned her a solid reputation.
Despite enjoying an amazing fan-following for years, Pettersen also ran into a strong critic after she posed for ESPN The Magazine a few months back.
However, observers say the LPGA star will now have to focus more on her game rather than off-course activities like she did back in July this year. They said that the coming events are going
to get tougher and tougher as South Korean golfers are eager to further tighten noose on their American and European counterparts.
Pettersen took part at the Navistar LPGA Classic 2012, held at Prattville, Alabama, United States, where she played a much better game. She posted an overall 279 to tie for the 21st
position on the leaderboard.
Pettersen displayed a solid performance in the fourth round as she shot a 66 to improve her position.
Another big battle is coming up in Malaysia next month as Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012 is set to be staged from October 11-14 at Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club.
Observers said that Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia 2012 is going to pit big names against each other, and winning the match has now become very crucial for the Norwegian golfer.
It remains to be seen how the struggling star ends her winning drought in the current season, but other contenders are not going to let her get away with mistakes this time.
