Suzann Pettersen not happy with 2012 performance, but keeps hopes up

Norwegian Suzann Pettersen, who grabbed the first-round lead at the ongoing LPGA Hana Bank Championship 2012, has said that she has not been performing well in the current season, but is working
hard to snap out of a months-long winning drought.
Pettersen made a good start at the three-round Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) tournament at Ocean Course, Incheon, South Korea, as she posted her all-time high 63 on this course
to take an early lead.
Despite having got off to a stellar start in Korea, Pettersen clearly has not come to terms with her not being able to record good finishes in some of the recent tournaments, and she spoke
her mind during her interview at the end of the first round.
The LPGA titan said that she realises that it has been a bit hard trying to get back to winning ways and end her lacklustre stint, but some tournaments have seen her perform well in the current
season, which could help her fix lapses.
“It feels like this year hasn't been a great year, but I feel like I've been playing well even though my scores haven't shown as good as I wanted to, but you can't stress that in this game,”
the golfing sensation said.
With the 2012 season fast coming to a close, players have ramped up efforts to improve their positions in the Women’s World Golf Rankings—but winning has been a matter of concern for most
of the American and European contenders lately.
Although players like Paula Creamer and Stacy Lewis of the United States have shown resilience in the recent past, most of the top positions are still being held by Asians, especially South
Koreans.
Pettersen, currently ranks 9th in the Women’s World Golf Rankings, pointed out that despite her wishing to become a star performer once again and boost her position in world ranking,
she realises that unimpressive stints are not that unusual.
“You will go through ups and downs, and I wouldn't say I've been on a down, either, because I've been healthy, I've been feeling well and able to put in all the time and effort I feel is needed
for my game,” she said.
She further said that the LPGA Hana Bank Championship 2012 can help her make a promising start.
“Maybe this can be a great turnaround”.
