Suzann Pettersen put up a tough fight at the Ladies Irish Open
Suzann Pettersen finished the Ladies Irish Open in the second place. She lost the top most position by just a stroke. However, her performance has been applauded by both fans and observers.
She was going strong in the second round and finished with a lead of two strokes. At this point, she had only one player who could have staged an upset in the final round.
Scotland’s Catriona Matthew was just behind Pettersen and it appeared that the final round will offer some exciting moments.
When the third and the final round started, Pettersen moved ahead and made pars on the first five holes. She scored a bogey on the sixth hole and lost a point off her lead.
She recovered splendidly and shot three consecutive birdies on the next three holes. This was a fitting end of the front nine and Pettersen appeared to be in control of the round.
The back nine proved to be disappointing after such a great performance. She opened the back nine with a bogey on the 10th hole. This start soon came to haunt her as she moved down the course. She managed a birdie on the 13th hole and
followed it up with another on the 15th hole.
At this point, it appeared that Pettersen had recovered from the setback and will finish the event in the first place. The birdie on the 16th hole confirmed this assessment and her fans saw her finishing in the first place already.
However, she dashed all the hopes with a bogey on the 17th hole. In many after match analysis, experts said that this was the point when Pettersen gave away her first place.
She did not have enough room to recover from this disaster. She did finish the final hole on par but that was not enough to offset this bogey.
Pettersen offered a great game at the Ladies Irish Open. Throughout the event, she played her best and dominated the event with her golf skills. In total, she scored 11 birdies and scored just 7 bogeys. It is a testament to her skills that she finished the
event without a single double bogey.
