Suzann Pettersen ready to prove her worth at Mobile Bay LPGA Classic
Suzann Pettersen has said that she is eager to win the Mobile Bay LPGA Classic, scheduled to be held from April 26-29, at Magnolia Grove’s Crossings Course.
Suzann Pettersen, who currently ranks 3rd in the Women’s World Golf Rankings, failed to win last week’s LPGA Lotte Championship, but finished in the top-10.
The Mobile LPGA Classic, formerly known as Avnet LPGA Classic, is very important for Pettersen, as she came close to winning the event last year. She finished tied for the third.
Keeping in mind her performance at Ko Olina Club, Hawaii, Pettersen appears to be in a good form
The 31-year-old star from Norway will face a tough field at Magnolia Grove’s Crossings Course, with the presence of LPGA titans like Karrie Webb, Se Ri Pak, Paula Creamer and Christina Kim.
Speaking of the looming battle at the $1,250,000 event, Pettersen said that she is aware of the pressure she may face on the course, but is confident enough to confront her rivals.
She added that she likes Magnolia Grove’s Crossings Course, which is why she will set foot on the course with a more solid plan.
In addition to big names, the defending champion, Maria Hjorth, will also be in the roster to repeat the 2011 performance.
"It's actually a course that I enjoy playing. You can really get it going around the track. You can be aggressive. I like some of the new layouts they did to the course a couple of years ago," the Norwegian star said.
"I thought that made it a little better, it made the greens a little better. There are always great crowds and the fans are fantastic".
Pettersen said that she is not afraid to challenge top-ranked players, as they only thing that will help her put pressure on her rivals, is confidence in her own game.
“There's always some kind of carryover from year to year. I've always believed that you're never better than your worst shot. Everyone's good shots are great, and the better your bad ones get, the better you'll play,” the 31-year-old said.
Tournament Director Jonathan Romeo said that the field will contain a number of American players — something that will make the tournament even livelier.
