Suzann Pettersen set to participate in Women’s Australian Open
Suzann Pettersen is going to kick off her season-opener Women’s Australian Open at Royal Melbourne this Thursday. Pettersen is being regarded as a key player in the field set for the prestigious tournament.
Currently ranked second in the world golf rankings, Pettersen will have much to worry about when she sets foot on the course of Royal Melbourne.
Current world number one Yani Tseng will be making the headlines because she is the hot favourite of the event.
The Women's Aussies Open is important for Pettersen, as she said that she aims to improve her world ranking to beat Tseng.
Tseng has been unbeatable for a long time and a defeat at the hands of Pettersen can signal the new formation of top spots.
The field of the tournament will feature other leading players who have the ability to keep their rivals at a distance on the course.
Aussie Karrie Webb has reportedly committed to participate in the event, making it more interesting.
Christie Kerr, who currently ranks 4th in the world ranking, will also be a part of the field and can prove a tough contender. Moreover, Brittany Lincicome has also geared up for the tournament.
Pettersen said that she knows that she can improve her raking in the event, as the only player who can give her a hard time is Tseng.
All the other players are good, she added, but she believes she will be able to make a major breakthrough.
Pettersen, who has been seeking to bolster her position in the world, appears to have to found her lost putting skills.
She shared that her game is finally coming back to its previous form and she will make the most of it.
“That’s one thing I would like to do, try to prepare better in the weeks before the majors so I can go in less stressed about how the game is feeling,” she stated.
She went on to say that beating Tseng will not easy, as the Taiwanese star is in high spirits these days.
She concluded, “I look at my game and what I can do better to get the most out of it every day. She’s a great No. 1, she’s very aggressive, very fearless and obviously has a lot of confidence at the moment. But I’ve beaten her before so I know you can do
it”.
