Suzann Pettersen shoots 74 in the final round
Suzann Pettersen scored 74 in the final round of 2012 Evian Masters and finished the tournament in the 24th position.
Pettersen’s final score was 282, an 11 point deficit that started right from the first round. This was a very disappointing performance from the player who is the current world’s number six.
At the start of the event, many fans and observers were hopeful that Pettersen will finish in the top-10. This prediction was not without a factual basis. Pettersen has been performing great this year and her record in the past tournaments is something that
many fans are proud of.
Her most recent tournament was the 2012 U.S. Women's Open. She was placed in the ninth position in the event with a score of 292. This amazing performance at the most prestigious tournament of the US buoyed everyone’s hopes. Even before that Pettersen
had been going strong.
The Walmart NW Arkansas Championship Presented by P&G was another event where Pettersen shined through the competition. She played an excellent 208 points and finished the tournament in the 14th place.
Given this record, the expectations of a top-10 finish was not unreasonable. In fact, many experts said that Pettersen might get lucky the third time and win this year’s Evian Masters.
Pettersen started off the event by scoring 69 points in the first round. This was a great score and everyone was excited about her prospects. She scored 4 birdies, which many took as great omen. Fans conveniently overlooked the bogey on the 16th
hole.
The second round was even worse with a score of 71. Pettersen registered two bogies and a double bogey. This performance damaged her chances and she moved way down the rankings of the event.
The third round showed that Pettersen had regained her form. With five birdies on the scorecard, many chose to ignore the lone bogey she scored on the 14th hole. The score in this round was 68, a major improvement from the performance of the second
round.
The final round was another disappointment where Pettersen scored two bogeys and two double bogeys. This loss was by no means mitigated by the four birdies that she scored.
This performance has shocked many observers but her fans are hoping for a win in the coming events.
