Suzi Perry replaces Jake Humphrey as BBC F1 reporter for 2013 – Formula 1 news
Former MotoGP presenter, Suzi Perry is going to replace Jake Humphrey in the 2013 Formula 1 season for BBC coverage.
Humphrey has been covering F1 for BBC for the last four years and has now planned to switch to BT to cover football Premier League.
It will be important to mention that Chris Evans and the present pit-lane reporter Lee McKenzie were linked with the post, but Perry has been confirmed to take over Humphrey from the next year onwards.
Ben Gallop, who is currently BBC head of F1, has said that they have full confidence in their decision and Perry will surely come up to their expectations.
Besides, he said that she has been covering autosport for quite a long time now and has developed a very good understanding about everything related to it. He also said that she will bring real energy in the next year’s F1 coverage.
“She'll bring real energy and years of experience to one of the biggest jobs in sports broadcasting,” said BBC Head of F1 Ben Gallop. “Her presenting ability, coupled with her love and knowledge of motorsport, make her an excellent addition.”
Meanwhile, he expressed his immense gratitude towards Humphrey for his remarkable contributions towards the channel during the last four years. In addition, he wished the 34-year-old best of luck for the future.
“I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank Jake Humphrey for his enormous contribution to the coverage over the last four years and we all wish him the best for the future,” he added.
It is to be noted that BBC has also made an announcement that it will broadcast ten grands prix live in the United Kingdom in collaboration with Sky.
Additionally, the races in China, Spain, Canada, England, Belgium, Italy, Japan, India and Brazil will be telecasted live, globally on television. However, the European GP is yet to be confirmed which will be held in July.
Perry has been known as one of the best reporters in the sport and she surely deserves this job. It will be interesting to see her live in the next season.
