Suzuki BSB rider John Hopkins looking forward to 2011 MotoGP Brno event in Czech Republic
Samsung Crescent Suzuki team rider from British Superbike series, John Hopkins is eager to get aboard Rizla Suzuki GSVR for the Brno MotoGP race weekend.
At Brno, he will be racing along Alvaro Bautista rather than being a substitute rider as he did at Jerez. It will be his second wild card entry in the 2011 MotoGP season. The American rider has remarkably participated in three series together in a single
season.
Hopkins said, “This has been an incredible run of races for me and it is a pretty big deal to do three different championships in three weekends! I know Yukio did it in 2003 and carried on with an amazing run of nine consecutive races, I just have no idea
how he managed that!”
After Yukio Kagayama in 2003, Hopkins has been able to race in MotoGP, WSBK and BSB in a single season. His full time commitment is with Samsung Crescent Suzuki team in the British Superbike series.
However, he has also marked his potential at the WSBK round held at Silverstone, where he scored the pole position. Though his race finish was not so impressive but the team effort and Hopkins’ determination proved their ability to challenge the WSBK top
teams.
Hopkins added, “It was good to get back to World racing last weekend at Silverstone, we did ok there, but I think we deserved a little better after qualifying on pole. We'd know how to get a better race distance result if we went back now! The weekend was
a boost for all of us as it showed we are good enough to be there.”
He further added that he is pleased to race at Brno where he scored his career best MotoGP results in 2007 by scoring a second place on the podium.
This weekend he will be racing in Brands Hatch for the BSB series event and on the next weekend, he will be heading to Brno, Czech Republic for the MotoGP event.
Recalling his injured time when he broke his wrist, his motorcycle racing career was nearly doomed. Now with a strong comeback he is highly focused to show his potential. Let’s see how he fares in the days to come.
