Question:

Suzuki Bandit 1200, 2003 model annoying problem with front sub-frame?

Does anyone else suffer from rubber mounts (on the upper mounting bolt)?

It really annoys me when I hit bumpy roads or painted 'slow down' strips across the road before a roundabout. At night, the latter reminds me of being in a club with strobe lights...great when ya shakin' yo stuff, not so great when you need to see where you're going!

I'm tempted to take them [rubber mounts] out so it's fixed? Anyone else done this and found poor visibility through the mirrors to be the only trade-off? The only other reason for this silly move by Suzuki is to reduce blown bulbs as far as I can see? But if it ain't broke, don't fix it is what I say!

Look forward to your responses!

  1. they may be worn...depending on the design of them there is a simple fix...if there the type that are ,say, like a suspention bush[metal outside, then rubber, then another tube for the bolt to go through] then your in luck...i get 2 washers, sometimes spring washers, and fit inbetween the mounts on both sides of the rubber and fit it all back together....what it does when its tightend is force the rubber bush in,tightening and compressing the rubber thus stiffening the whole lot...hope this helps

  2. I assume you're talking about the headlight or whatever being rubber mounted and flopping around.  Don't know about your bike, but my KZ1000 will vibrate off the running light filaments every so often.  The lights are now mounted on the solidly mounted fairing frame.  However, rarely has the larger direction light filament broken.  But on the other side, halogen bulb filaments don't like vibration since they run hotter (and brighter) than ordinary tungsten filaments.

  3. They go hard and as such are far less able to soak up the vibes and bumps..........just get new ones and replace.
