Suzuki GS500F or Kawasaki Ninja 500R?

Question

I'm strictly looking for an educated, outside opinion on which is a better buy. My key concerns are reliability and handling. Lets assume we're talking about the 2008 models. Additionally, I'm new to to the motorcycle field, so please factor that in. Thank you very much.

The GS500F is more modern looking but the ninja 500 has more power and i believe more reliably/problem free.

The Ninja 500R is rumored to be discontinued for 2010, but then again, I've heard it's just getting redesigned. So resale, either way is going to be less on the 2008 model.

I would go for the GS500F. SV650S and GSX650F are good ones too if you're bent on Suzuki.

I like the Ninja better they will both be very similar in weight and handling. The Ninja has a tiny bit more power and it has a liquid cooled engine rather then the air cooled Suzuki.

I think the Suzuki fairings look like they stick out too far or something too but they are both great bikes and very similar
