Question:

Suzuki Savage 650 Trouble

My Suzuki Savage 650 was working just fine until I tried to wash it today. It will not start now. The lights and everything work fine but when I put the key in the ignition it just clicks and makes a whirring noise until I stop trying to start it. Does anyone have any idea what happened or how I can fix it?

  1. Somtimes water on the battery terminals will weaken the amps, not allow a good connection, it will allow enough for the lights and things to come on, but not enough for a starter to turn over properly, try pulling them off and Cleaning/Drying them.

Maybe water on the connections to the starter as well, again, disconnect and clean/dry them.

If it is clicking then you have power all the way to the starter relay, that is what you hear clicking, it either isn't getting enough power to the starter, or... it is getting power to the starter, but its not getting into the starter itself.

My suggestion to you is to clean what I advised that you clean and dry, if the bike still doesn't want to start, bump start it by pushing it and popping the clutch in second gear.

After you bump start the bike, allow it to sit and run for 10 minutes or so, hopefully the engine heat will dry whatever is wet and allow the bike to start... it may very well be water in the starter itself, the engine heat would dry that out if that is the case.

    Good Luck!!!!

  2. yeah somthings wet and what ever it is it dont like water,LOL, no man dry the ignition out or the coil ,the coil could be cracked gettin wet inside

  3. let it sit abot 24 hours and dry out then try it

  4. sit it in the sun & dry it out......

wipe all the excess water of first..

once it dries out & works again..

spray some clear non conducting varnish on the electrics to seal them from water..(  should be available at local electronics store)
