I have been told many things, that this bike is not safe, i cant handle it etc etc...I am 17,but i dont see why?....Whats the difference between riding a 250cc and a 750cc if you drive it normally...If i am going to ride the 750cc same as i would ride the 250cc why do i have to be more careful?

thx

  1. The difference is just shy of a 100bhp, yes, you don't what that means either, I don't want to insult you but you “don't see why” because you have no experience of riding a bike or the relative power of different size engines. Let's just say that a quarter turn of the 750's throttle will vaguely equate to more than full throttle on a basic 250 – this is as simple as I can make it, the difference is more marked than that as weight comes into the equation.

If you ride it the same way as you would a 250 (which you also don't know how to do) you will scare yourself silly (in the best possible circumstance – the alternatives will either hurt a lot or you will have no feelings at all).

Nobody has anything to gain from seeing you start on a 250, it is not a global joke at your expense, it is advice given by people who know what they are talking about.

  2. If you ride the 750 - please make sure your organ donor card is up to date -shame to waste such nice young ones.

  3. If you were starting on a cruiser then i would say ok to the 750 easy.  But the bike you are choosing is not a beginner bike.  I have no personal experience with the gsxr but the Yamaha r6 in past years if you roll on the throttle to quick your front will rise.  And rolling on the throttle in a curve when you are going in and out of your powerband can cause the bike to change its stance or balance to say.  I would not go with a 250 myself either but not look at the 750 gsxr niether.  Do they not have a milder 600 class like the katana or a gs500.  Kind of middle of the road with not the quirky motor.

#1 - bikes are NOT safe.

#2 - 750 cc bikes are WAY too heavy and powerful for a beginner.

#3 - you are going to be dropping that bike few times (at least).  So why do it with a expensive bike.

You are LEARNING to ride.  That takes few years (at least).  You CAN NOT do that on a powerful bike.  My first bike was just 400 cc, and I almost killed myself on the FIRST day when I accidentally popped a wheelie.

Yes you will get tired of 250cc bike.  You might even get tired of 750 cc bike.  Following that logic you might as well start with a 1200cc bike.

    NOT !!!!

    Good Luck...

  5. 250cc bikes aren't NEARLY as eager to pop wheelies as 750cc bikes, especially with Gixxers(gsxr) who are legendary for their power and racing pedigree. I DO NOT recommend anything above a 400cc for a beginner. I recommend starting on a 250 ninja.
