hi

i am an owner of a 2003 suzuki lt80, it has not been runnin for two and a half year so i sent into garage so all the engine could be cleaned out. i got it back it worked fine for a week or so. until i was riding it one day and i switched it off too say something too my friend and then when try too start it. it wouldnt do nothing . not a noise or even try too start. i myself think it is the starter motor because there is 12 volts goin into it but still does nothing. but normally wen a new starter is needed it clicks or something or makes a noise but its doing nothing .

does anyone have any ideas what could be the problem

please say if you have

  1. If it stopped after switching off, try jiggling the ignition switch, or the kill switch. Just cycle them on and off several times each. Then, make sure they are in the correct run position and try again. Maybe put it in and out of neutral a few times and make sure the side stand is up.

  2. the clicking is the solenoid, a high current relay. If there is no clicking then the solenoid is dead/ not getting power. Have you checked the solenoid with an electrical meter? it may be built into the starter motor assembly on a bike (as I say I don't know)

  3. if you have 12 volts to the starter but it doesnt do anything i would say the starter is froze up so it wouldnt do anything when you try to start it. that is my guess but i like my kick starters.

  4. Check the main fuse.
