Suzuki rf 900 engine problem

I have a suzuki rf 900 and it starts first time, and rides ok really.

but it lags power every now and again,

it's hard to describe....

when you pull away from a standing start it hesitates you have to put more throttle on it to get it to move, sort of doesn't rev for spit second

and same sort of happens when you riding it..

once you've moved off, and it's pulling away nicely it doesn't die, but theres like a flat spot, but once you hole the throttle on it pulls you out of it

but the problem is, is that the power isn't there when you want and need it.

does anyone know what this is, or might be?

to me, it's sort of an air thing

i know one the old cbr's theres a wire you can earth on the speedo that open's the air intake valve, is there anything like this on my bike?

Thanks!

  1. Try the fuel line and filter,

I had the same problem with an aprillia, almost as if its trying to swallow, its struggling, then it swallows and takes off.

In the end this problem lead to me needing a new barrel and piston cause i left it, id reccomend taking it to a garage.

  2. just sounds like carbs are out of balance hours labour to sort it out but before  you take that route check the air stops are all fitted and not perished

  3. It either has blocked jets or split carb diaphragms, both require carb strip & rebuild, but you could try having them balanced first.

  4. Not read what you typed, got bored after " 900 cc RF "

You do know, that that the GSX-r 1100 R / L & K model lumps fit straight in, with no mods ? You can even keep the same wiring loom and even spockets and chain.

Its the best transplant job going. Dump the rusty old 9, and drop an 11 in there. Find one from an ex drag racer, even better.

    The perfect street sleeper.
