Svein Tuft says he is unsure of his performance in 2011 Tour of California – Cycling News
The Canadian National Time Trial Champion, Svein Tuft of the SpiderTech p/b team, is optimistic about his performance ahead of the Amgen Tour of California. Due to his illness he did not perform well in successful spring block of racing previously.
On May 20, Svein Tuft showed good performance in the stage six in the 24 kilometres time trail race held in Solvang.
His team-mate, Josee Larocque said that physically Svien had a great spring in Europe in terms of his performances. In the Three Days time trial race, Svien was in fourth place.
He further added, “He finished the spring campaign with a solid Tour of Turkey, but unfortunately retired from the last stage due to a fever. Svein has been working on getting his good health back ever since."
Sevin Tuft is a six time national time trial champion and in 2010 was in second place overall in Tour of Denmark. He also finished seventh in Men’s individual time trial, Beijing Olympics and in 2008 won UCI world time trial championships.
Though the virus has had its worst impact, but the team is certain that the 33-year-old would take part in the Tour of California.
"However we cannot predict how good Svein will be due to his recent virus. We are optimistic, but we cannot be confident. However, as previously stated we are certainly cautious on how his form is since May 1. We know he has great preparation racing
in Europe. It's only the recent health battle that worries us."
In the Danish town of Solvang, UCI world time trial champions reviewed the challenging time trial race. Tuft had improved his performance and grabbed success at the Amgen Tour of California in the past finishing ninth in the opening prologue. In 2009
individual time trial he was in twentieth place.
SpiderTech p/b C 10 invented a well-established team that include climbers Ryan Anderson, Lucas Euser and Tuft will Routely in conjunction with the other four climbers, Keven Lacombe, Zach Bell, Martin Gilbert, and Pat McCarty.
The Amgen Tour of California will start on May 15, 2011.
