The Borussia Dortmund midfielder has expressed his frustration on the dropped points against the relegation contenders.
Jurgen Klopp’s side failed to secure their ninth consecutive win in the Bundesliga against FC Augsburg as they ended the game with a 0-0 scoreline. Bayern Munich benefitted from Dortmund’s result as they thrashed Hoffenheim 7-1
to close the gap to five points at the top.
Bender claimed that his side should have won the game with the amount of chances they had and admitted that it was a disappointing result. He stated that the pitch was also not ideal for the team but reserved praise for the home
side. The player claimed that Augsburg defended brilliantly to stop Dortmund from creating any opportunities in the second-half.
“It was a point won, rather than two dropped because it was a tough game. Augsburg worked really hard whilst we perhaps lacked a bit of purpose. Maybe we needed to be a bit more precise in the final third and it has to be said
the pitch was far from ideal. Sometimes you need a little luck,” he was quoted as saying in an interview to the club’s official website.

the game considering the conditions and is confident that a five point lead at the top would be enough to lift the title.
“We made the wrong calls in a few situations in front of goal but kept a clean sheet. You have to be happy with the point. It could prove vital in keeping us at the top,” the shot stopper added.
Borussia Dortmund lead the Bundesliga standings table with 56 points from the 25 games played and have won 17 games so far this season. Bayern Munich are right on their heels as they sit in second place with 51 points. The reigning
champions will next face Werder Bremen at the Signal Iduna Park on Saturday, March 17.
