The midfielder is excited by the Dortmund’s chances of success in the coming season and is looking forward to perform better than last year in the UEFA Champions League.
Borussia Dortmund midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sven-Bender-c34386 has vowed that his side will compete in every competition they will participate in the 2012-13 campaign. The German team will also make up for their disastrous Champions League season last
year by going beyond the group stage format.
The Die Borussen outfit retained their German League title in the last season and managed to win the DFB-Pokal cup on top of that by defeating Bayern Munich 5-2. The only frustration came in the form of a group stage humiliation
in Europe’s premier competition.
Bender is in admission of trying to do better in Champions League and claimed the Westfalenstadion will improve than the previous season. He wants to achieve this objective for the sake of the club’s loyal fans.
"In the Champions League, we have a few wishes of the fans to meet ... we know that. We want to play better that we did last year,” the 23-year-old said.
The attacker conceded that the hard work is done and the Bundesliga Champions have laid the groundwork for a successful season. He admitted that they are not guaranteed to win the Bundesliga for a third consecutive season but they
can try and do their utmost best to fulfil their wishes.
"We have the foundations laid for a very good season. And those conditions are optimal. However, one cannot say that we will inevitably be champions again. What we can do is lay the stepping stone, and then try to achieve the maximum,"
he stated.
The playmaker said that the German cup champions have no top priority and they will want to stay in every competition as long as they can and try to win them all.
"We have no priority. For us, every competition is equal; we want to stay in contention in each as long as possible," the German concluded.
Dortmund play Bayern Munich in the German Super Cup on August 12 before taking on Werder Bremen on August 24 for their first league match.
