Sven Nys wins the Bank Trofee - Koppenbergcross 2012
Sven Nys of Team Landbouwkrediet-KDL filled his pockets with yet another victory at the recent bpost Bank Trofee - Koppenbergcross 2012.
He took a total time of 1 hour and 31 seconds and occupied the top podium position overcoming his major opponents.
Niels Albert of Team BKCP-Powerplus finished 14 seconds behind at the second position with Klaas Vantornout of Team Sunweb-Revor, Aurilien Duval of Team UV Aube and Bart Wellens of Team Telenet-Fidea securing the next three spots.
Nys was positive of receiving the ultimate glory even before the start of the race as he called it as one of the most beautiful cross races of the season.
"That I was able to do it like I said makes this a very special win. I've won my Tour of Flanders this year,” he noted.
He further added that, “I've said these were my world championships, I put all my frustrations in one acceleration".
Kevin Pauwels looked good throughout the race but could not match the likes of his compatriot and had to settle for the second spot.
"I did a great job in the general classification. The series are now down to only Sven and myself, and that after only two rounds. The only race where I can still lose it is in Baal on New Year's Day," he noted.

Sven Nys, Kevin Pauwels and Niels Albert claimed the intermediate sprint bonus while Klaas Vantornout, Sven Nys and Aurilien Duval were given the fastest lap award in the respective order.
