Sven Nys wins the Superprestige series in Hamme-Zogge, Belgium
Sven Nys of Team Landbouwkrediet-KDL wins continuous his tremendous form and wins the third round of the Superprestige series in Hamme-Zogge, Belgium.
The Belgian marked an easy victory during the race and took a total time of 1 hour, 1 minute and 36 seconds to occupy the top podium position.
“This win was for my son. It’s his birthday tomorrow so this is a perfect gift. Especially because it’s a nice race,” Nys said.
“I didn’t honestly expect to go the distance that early in the race but once I was alone in front”.
“I managed to ride a pace that I could do for without blowing up the engine. If they'd came back to me, I would still have something left”.
Niels Albert of Team BKCP-Powerplus fell 18 seconds short at the second position with Lars van der Haar of Team Rabobank-Giant Off-Road Team claiming the third position.
“I rode too close behind Nys. It’s a mistake like many other mistakes I’m still making but that’s part of being a young rider,” Haar cited.
Bart Aernouts of Team AA Drink Cyclocross team and Kevin Pauwels of Team Sunweb-Revor occupy the fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
Klaas Vantornout of Team Sunweb-Revor, Marcel Meisen of Team BKCP-Powerplus, Radomir Simunek of Team BKCP-Powerplus, Rob Peeters of Team Telenet-Fidea and Dieter Vanthourenhout of Team BKCP-Powerplus claimed the next five positions respectively.
Nys is enjoying a terrific season and bagged his third victory at the Superprestige series which helped him extending the overall lead after round 3.
His three Superprestige victories include first place finishes at the Ruddervoorde, Zonhoven and Hamme-Zogge 2012.
Sven Nys leads the Superprestige standings after round 3 with his heroic performances at the event that earned him the maximum number of 45 points.
Niels Albert of Team BKCP-Powerplus is three points behind at the second position with Kevin Pauwels of Team Sunweb-Revor holding the third position with 36 points in his bag.
Lars van der Haar of Team Rabobank-Giant Off-Road Team is 3 points behind at the fourth spot with Bart Aernouts (32 points), Klaas Vantornout (29 points), Rob Peeters (21 points), Bart Wellens (20 points), Julien Taramarcaz (18 points) and Dieter Vanthourenhout
(16 points) securing the next positions respectively.
