Svetlana Chimrova wins Girls 100m butterfly gold: Day four – European Junior Swimming Championships
Svetlana Chimrova of Russia occupied gold medal of the Girls 100m butterfly on fourth day of the 2012 European Junior Swimming Championships in Antwerp, Belgium on Saturday, July 7.
The Russian swimmer lived up to the expectations of her challengers as she captured gold medals of the double lap butterfly discipline. With her relentless efforts, Chimrova dominated the race from the start and tapped the finishing end for gold medal.
Her gruelling effort remained full body length ahead of her opponents as she tapped the wall for the crown of the event with the timing of 59.07 seconds.
The champion was chased by Liliana Szilagyi of Hungary, who remained 0.84 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and hit the wall with an effort of 59.91 seconds for silver medal.
Similarly, third position of the discipline was secured by Christina Munkholm of Denmark, who stayed 0.33 seconds behind and hit the finishing end with the timing of 1 minute and 00.24 seconds.
The bronze medallist was chased by Lucie Svecena of Czech Republic, who stayed 0.17 seconds apart and settled on the finishing blockade as fourth position holder with the timing of 1 minute and 00.41 seconds.
Fifth position of the 100m discipline was obtained by Valeriia Kolotushkina of Russia, who stayed just a touch slower from overpowering her former finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 00.58 seconds.
Kolotushkina was chased by Louise Hansson of Sweden, who remained 0.07 seconds slower and submitted a time of 1 minute and 00.65 seconds for sixth position.
The Swedish swimmer was chased by Elena Czeschner of Germany, who stayed 0.15 seconds apart and sprinted her way to the finishing wall as seventh position holder with the timing of 1 minute and 00.80 seconds.
Last spot of the event was secured by Marie Wattel of France, who stayed 0.35 seconds behind and clocked an effort of 1 minute and 01.15 seconds for eighth position.
In addition, Chimrova was delighted with her gold finish in the 100m discipline and shared her desire of achieving the same at superior levels of swimming.
