Svetlana Philippova wins Women’s 3m Springboard dive-off: Day seven – 18th FINA Diving World Cup
Svetlana Philippova of Russia surpassed efforts of her challengers and won gold medal of the Women’s 3m Springboard dive-off on seventh day of the 18th Federation Internationale Federation de Natation Amateur (FINA) Visa Diving World Cup at the Aquatics Centre, Olympic Park in London on Sunday, February 26.
The diving world cup played a crucial role in enhancing performances of world-class players, as it provided a chance to elite players to compete with each other before the 2012 London Olympic Games.
The Russian diver gave no chance to her competitors to fight back and clinched gold medal of the event with a phenomenal effort of 327.50 points. With her title claiming effort, she remained 9.05 points ahead of Great Britain’s Hannah Starling, who followed her on the victory stand for second position by achieving a nice total of 318.45 points.
Subsequently, Francesca Dallape of Italy emerged as the third position holder of the discipline. Dallape stayed nearly 26 points away from her former position holder and settled on the medal rostrum for bronze medal by clinching 292.75 points.
The third position holder of the event was chased by Ng Yan Yee of Malaysia, who remained 9.15 points behind Dallape and secured fourth finest spot on the overall points table with an effort of 283.60 points.
Marion Farissier of France was the fifth position holder of the 3m dive-off event as she accomplished a total of 283.10 points. She was followed by Juliana Veloso of Brazil, who was just 2.30 points away from her preceding finisher and ended sixth by notching up 280.80 points.
The seventh best spot of the event was secured by f***y Bouvet of France, who remained nearly eight points apart and obtained a score of 272.30 points. Inge Jansen of Netherlands was the eighth best finisher of the event as she was only 3.90 points behind Bouvet and scored a total of 268.40 points.
In addition, the session ended after the completion of all listed events whereas the position holders were awarded medals for their tremendous efforts in the dive-off discipline after the conclusion of final session.
