Question:

Swa to shed?

further to my other question ref extension to garden shed, if was to run swa 2.5mm to power socket should i but 3 or 4 core? i believe it is not good practice to use the outer sheath as an earth so i guess i buy 3core & use

  1. As above, but + and - refer to DC/battery power, Line/live and neutral is correct!


  2. Yep! that's correct!

    It's ok to use the armour as your earth, but I tend to use a core and earth down the armour. Belt and braces if you will.

  3. That should be fine but using the armourings as an earth conductor is fine as long as the SWA is terminated correctly using the correct SWA gland.

  4. I would agree 100% with jayktee9  but would add> where you terminate the SWA at the house fit a double pole switch fuse & a RCD ( if the house hasn't already got one )
