Question:

Swallowing too much pool water...?

Made me throw up once and get sick many times. My parents tried telling me it's not the chlorine, but I think it is. I don't think my stomach likes a large amount of chlorine... Is it possible for me to get sick and throw up from drinking too much chlorinated water?

  1. yes

  2. it depends on how much chlorin is in the water

  3. Yeah, the chlorine is diluted enough that you wouldn't do any permanent damage, but it will make your stomach very upset. You do need to try and avoid drinking to much though, to much over a short period of time CAN eventually harm you.

  4. um watch out becuase of that worm thing bacteria becuase that makes you sick not the chlorine

  5. I agree chlorine isn't good to ingest but when you think about it, it's in our tap water, etc...and in a pool it is stronger chlorine than tap water, but not usually very strong compared to say...a cleaning solution. Just don't drink it! (you don't want to anyway.)

If it was a surprise thing like accidentally choking on the pool water, or getting pulled under and swallowing it, or whatever, then you may just be stressed out, or a cramp from waterlogging yourself, and then trying to swim.

  6. Yeah it's possible.

  7. YES HIGHLY

  8. Pool water gives me gas.

  9. you can get other health problems with chlorine.

  10. Thats possible. You may be allergic to chlorine and the effect is making you throw up.

    Take care.

  11. Yeah, your parents are wrong!

  12. Are you that thirsty? Hahaha...

I know what you mean. Taking in too much water can cause you to be swallowing in a lot of air at the same time, and with such a big amount of water being swallowed into the stomach, it would cause you some upset and make you feel nausea.

At the same time, it is also the chlorine that is making you feel like so because taking in such an amount of chlorinated water will make you feel quessy. But don't worry too much about it, I had drunk a lot of it too when i was a toddler learning to swim and I do throw up. When I was older, it did make me feel nausea but I always held it in.

Good luck and try keeping your mouth close underwater until your mouth clears the waterline.

  13. Yeah, chlorine and urine XD

  14. It could also be due to activity.

swimming + drinking water = puke

my dog  loved drinking only water from the pool and never got sick.

  15. Quite possible. Everytime you come out of the water, you should try looking done so the water that's in your nose can drain out. That's probably how it gets in. That or you need to learn to close your mouth when you're swimming. The other possiblity is that you should stop taking dares from friends :P. Very possible. Chlorine is not good for people to drink.

  16. Yes, and you could drown in your sleep. Be careful.
