Swan Storm wins The Stadium Bookmakers Dual Distance Trophy - Heat 2 at Nottingham on Jan 16
Swan Storm, the son of Westmead Hawk out of Minnies Shatani, finished first in the second Heat of The Stadium Bookmakers Dual Distance Trophy, taken place at Nottingham on Monday, January 16, 2012.
Ahead of the race, Sequential, with the odds of 5 to 4, was tagged as the favourite hound.
However, it wasn’t her day at all, as Swan Storm, stunned the spectators by nabbing the top spot by a heavy margin of 1 ¼ lengths.
With the odds of 5 to 2, C Price’s blue and brindle dog kicked off the proceedings from trap number one.
He covered the area in 18.29 seconds, scooping £125 – the winning prize of the 305 metre long Grade Open Race (OR) Heat.
The clash for the second position was a dead heat between Farley Denny, and Sequential.
The latter gave an all out effort, but fell short by a head’s distance. Farley Denny, whose starting price was 6 to 1, clocked the distance in 18.39 seconds, finishing second on the table.
Had he not been crowded after an early lead, he would have clinched the top slot.
It was a disappointing result for Sequential, who failed to impress her connections.
The daughter of Hondo Black out of Jillaine Velvet crossed the wire in 18.41 seconds, exactly a half length ahead of the fourth position hound.
Bonnan Bui ended up fourth on the chart with a finishing time of 18.45 seconds. Holding the odds of 4 to 1, the son of Killahan Phanter out of Trip To Skellig set off the show from the sixth trap.
The last two positions respectively belonged to Boher Princess, and Cotswold Flash – the duo with the winning chances of 10 to 1.
Boher Princess, the daughter of Balintore Brive out of Knock Princess, dominated the back marker by a margin of 0.4 of a second.
The brindle b***h made it to the final point in 18.59 seconds after her discharge from the fifth trap.
The last position went to Cotswold Flash, the son of Daves Mentor out of Breeze Hill Juli.
The black dog lost his self-belief after being crowded in the middle of the track, and completed the order of finish. He touched the wire in 18.63 seconds, 0.34 seconds behind the winning dog.
Every single hound tried his best, but Swan Storm, emerged as the star of the show. It was his first ever 305-metre long race, and a positive result has definitely boosted his confidence.
