Swansea City manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michael-c25261 Laudrup has revealed he is determined to retain Joe Allen and the other top players at the English Premier League side.
Joe Allen, the 22-year-old midfielder, has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool in the current summer transfer window. It is believed the new Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is looking to sign the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 international right from under Swansea City’s
nose.
Laudrup though is determined to hold onto the Welshman and confirmed that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809’s interest in the player was mere speculation at this point. He revealed he expected rumours to come up regarding certain players in the summer transfer window.
The new Swansea City manager felt there were bound to be speculation regarding certain players’ futures, especially if they were performing well. He then confirmed that they would make sure that they held on to their key players.
Laudrup said in an interview:
“It's a part of football. When people are doing well, and especially when it was Swansea's first season in the Premier League, it's normal some of the players were not that well known at the highest level and it's normal there's interest.
Of course we want to keep our most important players here.”
Along with Neil Taylor and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Scott-Sinclair-c32675, Allen has been selected to represent Great Britain at the Olympics, which only adds to Laudrup’s concerns. The manager admitted that could be a problem for the English Premier League side, to have key players absent
from pre-season training.
The Swans began training earlier on this week and were joined by new signings Jose http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonathan-c18993 de Guzman. Laudrup revealed he was proud of the fact that three Swansea City players had been chosen to represent Great Britain at the Olympics,
but felt that it would adversely affect their performance for the club.
He revealed:
“They are not there for pre-season, then there's international games, so if they go all the way to the end they could present themselves here on August 16, only 48 hours before the first game.
That's not very good for us but it's fantastic for Swansea to have three players going to the Olympics.”
